Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club Gazebo’s
Two new permanent gazebos have been erected at the Tuncurry Forster Racecourse in time for the Ladies Day race meeting on May 18. The 15m x 3m structures, similar to the permanent member’s enclosure, have been erected to replace temporary gazebos which were blown away during the last meeting.
Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club vice-president, Adrian Wood said the Hokker structures would continue the friendly, picnic race meeting atmosphere the course had become renowned for. He said each pavilion would include tables and up to 10 chairs for hire, but the area could accommodate many more people. “It is an ideal private area which overlooks the racecourse,” Mr Wood said.
Having the permanent structures will save a lot of time and effort for the volunteers who in the past have had to erect and pull down the temporary complexes after each race meeting, Mr Wood said. He said the $19.000 steel and hardy plastic gazebos, which had been fully funded by the club, were given a life guarantee of 20 years.
Plans also were underway to replace temporary structures at the top of the hill.
